Testimonials

I am so grateful for the 1000 hr Yoga Therapy program offered by Yoga Therapy International for so many reasons, the most practical one being that it gave me all the skills and confidence I needed to find teaching opportunities right after I graduated from even my RYT 200 in Therapeutic Yoga.
Randi Bradshaw
CYT 1000 Yoga Therapist Graduate

I was able to secure 3 very good jobs right way and with RYT 200-RYT 500-CYT 1000 on my resume, I have had no trouble getting subsequent work in the areas I am interested in including Restorative Yoga, Yoga for Pregnancy, and Yoga for Later Life. I don't think I ever would have had the confidence or the skill set to accept any of this work without all the preparation and information that this program offers. Worth every penny!

Maggie is a yogic visionary, full of integrity. Her sweet voice and personable demeanor have made her a pleasure to study with. She has created a teacher training program that matches these strengths, incorporating the teachings of Master Yoga Therapists, Desikachar and Iyengar, into her training and drawing on the best local resources to enhance the training.
Camela Cowan
CYT 1000 Yoga Therapist Graduate

What sets her teachings apart from the myriad of others is both the experiential learning model used in the program, which has given me innumerable teaching skills and confidence simply by observing and assisting her in action, and the significant attention to the authentic techniques of yoga — integrating mantra, pranayama and meditation into asana practice, and always adapting yoga to suit each individual.

Maggie's in depth knowledge of yogic philosophy and Ayurveda is a rare asset. Most importantly, she models the yogic lifestyle allowing herself to flow through life's hurdles honestly and gracefully — an essential component of a teacher trainer.

The apprenticeship model in this training has provided me with numerous opportunities throughout the course to observe classes and individuals and practice and refine my teaching skills in a range of therapeutic contexts. This invaluable hands on approach has given me confidence to work with people with both simple and complex health issues.

I am very grateful for the strong and thorough yoga foundation Maggie taught. Her (RYT 200) training provided me with essential tools to offer safe and therapeutic yoga classes for people in early recovery.

Maggie Reagh takes private clients, works with their individual limitations and designs a practice for them that will help them recover from whatever ails them or else helps them optimize their well being within their limitations, for more serious challenges. She is highly skilled, has a wonderful presence, knows her stuff, and has helped me enormously in my recovery of a knee injury that bedeviled me for several years.
Barbara Burkhardt
Private and Public Classes Student

Take advantage of this great opportunity to take yoga therapy classes with my teacher, Maggie Reagh, a highly regarded yoga therapist in the field. She has recently moved to the east side from kits and is starting up small group classes this fall on East Hastings at the Inner City Ashram. She's my favorite yoga teacher in Van by far! She healed my 3.5 yr chronic neck pain in 2 small group sessions. Very intuitive and very intellectual at the same time — a nice, rare combo!

Maggie has created an incredibly rich program. Her deep and applicable knowledge of yoga is presented enthusiastically and from the heart. Rooted in the tradition of Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar, the program also includes numerous specialist mentors whose professional expertise spans a wide range of conditions and methods. This is one of the program’s most helpful aspects. In addition to having the opportunity to observe and assist in weekly group therapeutic classes, the six weeks of study in Chennai India with esteemed yoga teachers is an unforgettable and most valuable learning experience.

CYT 1000 Student

The 10 weeks that I spent with Maggie in the first module of the certified yoga therapist program were some of the most profoundly healing weeks of my life. I grew so much both as a yoga instructor and a human being, and I consistently use what I learned both at work and in my own daily practice. I can't believe how much I didn't know before this training! Maggie's depth of knowledge and practical experience—and obvious care for her students—are impressive to say the least. The specialist mentors she brings into class are also top-notch and extremely helpful. I now work with a chronic pain clinic offering private yoga therapy, and I refer back to her notes on a daily basis. I cannot wait to come back and complete the rest of the modules.

Maggie is a kind and generous teacher who brings the fullness of her spirit into her teachings. I always feel safe in her class because of the balance of expertise and playful humility she embodies. I look forward to Maggie's classes every week as a sanctuary for body, mind and spirit, and thank her deeply for the healing she has brought to my life.

As a writer, working at a computer can create a variety of imbalances in the body. Maggie helped me handle mine by teaching me methods using Dance and Yoga, an ideal combination that worked for me. And such a pure and gentle soul! To be in her presence is to feel healing.

I am currently training as a Yoga Therapist and have been teaching Yoga for the past 13 years. Recently, I started attending Maggie's classes and have come to love them. I really appreciate how she honours the roots of her tradition through the inclusion of chanting, breathwork practices, visualization, and reflection upon the Yoga Sutras. In conjunction with those elements, she brings a keen eye to her teaching and identifies imbalances and less-than-optimal movement patterns in her students, as well as a depth of knowledge of therapeutic postures and human anatomy.
Christina Niven
Level 2 Student at the Qi House in Kitsilano

Maggie gives tons of personal attention to each student and ensures that they move safely and have sufficient props to do so. I feel that she is a great resource for any teacher and also a supportive and knowledgable yoga therapist for anyone needing it. I would recommend her classes highly.

The chanting and sense of calm in Maggie’s classes help create a spiritual feeling in me. This has increased the connection between my mind, body and spirit. I so enjoy her emphasis on breathing and she has come up with some creative ideas for the adaptations I require to do various poses.

I have to say your Yoga class was one of the best I've taken. I felt fantastic when we were finished, and my back felt great with none of the strain I typically take away from a class.

As a Yoga teacher in the city, Maggie is a rare find. Her practical knowledge is remarkable with the power to transform and heal, “meeting you where you are" on many levels. When my back was injured, she gave me a short 15-minute morning practice (which I actually did) that eventually cured the injury. Her commitment to the spiritual practice of Yoga gives her work a further dimension that students benefit from. Her teaching style is a wonderful blend of earth meets sky!

Back in 1999, I had the honour of meeting Maggie and becoming one of her first Yoga students. We were living/working in China and Maggie gave Yoga classes twice a week to me and another colleague. It was clear from the beginning that Yoga was Maggie's passion. Five months later (and unfortunately for her two new Yoga students), Maggie left China for India to further advance her knowledge of Yoga. Since that time, and back in Vancouver, I have joined Maggie's classes whenever possible. Her expertise, her devotion to her students' needs as well as her positive energy are always present in her practice. I look forward to many more years of Yoga with Maggie.

Since 1999, I have learned and practiced Yoga with Maggie ― first in a bare apartment in China in the fall of 1999, where after a hard day of teaching, we would do our downward dog and serenity would return to the day. I have benefited most from Maggie's individualized Yoga Therapy programs for me over the years. I have all my sheets with Maggie's stick people reminding me what to do. All that I have learned from Maggie I bring into my ongoing practice and for this I am eternally grateful. It adds up to a priceless treasure.

Maggie introduced me to Yoga a decade or more ago. Since then, I’ve become an avid follower. I’ve taken many of her courses, private and public, along the years. Maggie’s classes are fun and truly enjoyable. She is approachable but professional at the same time. I wait for Wednesdays so I can get energized but become relaxed simultaneously.

Maggie knows my needs and challenges and caters to them. She actually focuses on each student individually and tells him/her how to perform each movement and get the most out of it. From this adaptive method, all her students gain. I wish Maggie all the best in all her endeavours and her yoga career.

Maggie is a person who exudes positive energy, enormous professional ability and a love of what she is doing. She passes this on to her students in a caring, friendly and flexible manner that gives you a sense of wanting to do more and have expectations of how to improve your life in many ways.

The value of Yoga was revealed to me in a visceral and mind-blowing way when I accidentally discovered Maggie's class on the Capilano University campus in 2002, during a time of great stress, fear and confusion in my family's life story. Maggie is so skilled at communicating and understanding that complete surrender and commitment to a life-saving practice is possible. I have experienced her generosity of spirit, her empathy and her teaching skill. I will always be grateful for the transformation she initiated.

My relationship with Maggie started in 2002 at Capilano University. I have always felt privileged to be a part of Maggie's classes. Some of my complaints were achy hips, tight gluts and other issues which left me sore and unhappy. With Maggie's knowledge and expertise in Yoga Therapy and her attention to her students' issues, I feel blessed. Maggie cares about each and every one of us. My lower back and other aches and pains also miraculously disappear after each class. Her chanting creates peace and tranquility.

Not only does Maggie truly believe in the health and restorative benefits of Yoga, but she also personalizes each practice to provide the most benefit to the individual student. She is a truly generous and sensitive guide, and her classes reflect her individualized approach to the person as a whole. I have gained flexibility, strength and balance, but more importantly, I have been able to incorporate this practice into my daily schedule and am more relaxed and aware as a result.
Marnie Findlater

Maggie is a fabulous teacher. She lives, sings and breathes yoga, bringing that energy into her classes and onto her students. I would highly and without hesitation recommend her as a skilled and knowledgeable teacher with a beautiful style to her teaching.

Maggie is a creative and adaptive yoga instructor that brings years of experience into the classroom along with a welcoming approach. I have benefited greatly by her instruction both in the classroom and for my home program. I would highly recommend her for anyone who's been holding off trying yoga due to injuries or limitations.

Private Yoga Therapy and Level 2 Student at the Qi House in Kitsilano

I am a 70-year-old woman who had done Yoga in the past but had stopped about 10 years ago because of lower back problems. I took Maggie's Yoga course for people with disabilities, and with gentle postures, I found that I could do much more than I thought I was capable of. At the end of the course, I felt I could step up to a higher level.

I have found that the Therapeutic Yoga for Disabilities sessions conducted by Maggie and her teacher trainees have helped me greatly to manage the adverse effects of pain and swelling of my osteoarthritis in my knee joints and legs. Learning to be conscious of my breathing has contributed to my finding relaxation and becoming aware of my body. I highly recommend Therapeutic Yoga as taught by Maggie.

Since 2008, I’ve had the benefit of learning with Maggie. Her years of study combine with a rare ability to see what might be causing imbalances in my body and mind. Her practices are profound but done with a light touch.

I have only good things to say about the teachers you have chosen with special mentions going to Nicole and Danielle. I feel blessed to have found Maggie. As someone who has been in multiple accidents, I have struggled with my body for decades. YTI has a wonderful faculty, both in Canada and Chennai. It was an absolute pleasure and honour to learn from this wide and diverse range of teachers, all experts in their respective fields. For me personally, the residential terms were a real highlight, both in Vancouver and Chennai. While, in the summer of 2020, Covid-19 led to Term 3 being online there was a real sense of community and togetherness during our learning in that period and it was a real testament to Maggie and her entire faculty to adapt so quickly and effectively. Huge love and respect for all of my learnings, for all of the faculty and for the wonderful community I was lucky to be a part of at YTI.

Yoga Therapy International (YTI) gave me a multitude of experiences in life and learning throughout my 2yrs with them during this program. The knowledge acquired from these incredible world renowned faculty members was invaluable. 6 weeks in India has the ability to change your life on so many levels. The end of something is always the start of something new. I look forward to walking the path that YTI has helped me navigate toward. Here’s to entering the next chapter
